Dahlonega, Georgia: Mountain Homes in Wine Country

America’s first major gold rush happened in Dahlonega, and the public square still reflects it. The old courthouse stands among restaurants and shops, and a full calendar of festivals brings visitors throughout the year. The University of North Georgia adds steady activity and a base of renters. In the Lumpkin County hills around town, tasting rooms and vineyard estates line the ridges, and the area has become the center of Georgia’s wine country.

Because of that mix, the market runs all year instead of by season. Our buyers here include retirees, second-home owners, remote workers and families who want mountain living alongside a town that functions. At the top of the market is Achasta, a Jack Nicklaus signature golf community on the Chestatee River. Beyond it, the countryside offers cabins, farms and view lots.
